New York Superintendents Overwhelmingly Support Common Core
A whopping 85% of school superintendents believe that Common Core is having a positive effect on math education, according to a poll of New York superintendents. A similar number (83%) believe the same about English education.
The poll, conducted by the New York State Council of School Superintendents shows a, “huge thumbs up” from the state’s school administrators, says an article in the New York Daily News. The article notes, “Pluralities also supported staying the course with rigorous testing and holding teachers accountable for student performance.”
While politicians may still quibble about Common Core, it seems that both teachers and school administrators, those with the most experience teaching our kids, continue to believe that the standards will help students succeed.
