Re-Opening Schools: The Role of Instructional Materials
COVID-19 means that the next school year cannot be ‘business as usual.’ Unprecedented ideas must be considered to address lost instruction time last school year and address the challenges of the 2020-21 school year. Educators will have to prioritize instructional content and adapt their instruction to in-person, remote, and hybrid settings. Publishers and professional learning providers can help by adjusting curricular materials and providing new educator supports to fit the new reality.
To support school systems as they plan for academic instruction, the Collaborative has asked all publishers whose materials that are rated green on EdReports, to provide information about the adaptations, programs, and resources being developed to meet the COVID context. Publisher responses are being posted as they are received and the responses are not evaluated. This effort will focus on sharing how publishers are intending to support the students, families, and educators who rely on their educational programs.
